Living as I do in Northamptonshire, a county not renowned for its wild trout fishing, (to be truthful it's virtually
nonexistent!), much of my fishing is on stocked, still waters.
Local to me are Pitsford and Ravensthorpe reservoirs
with Grafham and Rutland not too much further afield. The burgeoning growth of the popularity of fly fishing over the past
40 years or so owes much to the development of these reservoir fisheries and subsequently the proliferation of smaller, 'put
and take', heavily stocked lakes and ponds.
Although my first love is rivers, these fisheries can offer outstanding
sport and in this section I hope to give you a flavour of what can be expected for the price of a day ticket.
